SilverStar Ski Area
SilverStar Mountain Resort is an Okanagan's year-round ski resort located near Silver Star Provincial Park in the Shuswap Highland of the Monashee Mountains, 22km/13mi northeast of Vernon. Its village is reminiscent of a typical 19th century British Columbian mining town era with Victorian architecture. Boarded sidewalks & brightly colored shop fronts add a unique western flavor. SilverStar averages more than 700cm/276in of snow annually on their 115 marked trails, the majority intermediate, but with plenty of beginners and advanced action. SilverStar Mountain Resort also hosts other family fun activities like snowshoeing, tubing, skating, and horse-drawn sleigh rides. With access to nearby Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre, SilverStar offers some of the best and most extensive cross-country skiing in Canada, with more than 105 km/60 mi of daily groomed trails. In summer, that same terrain attracts mountain bikers to the Silver Star Bike Park, renowned design for progressive development with trails that beginners can tackle with confidence and steep, stunt-filled downhills to test the most extreme riders. Canada's largest mountain bike lift zips to the summit providing access to 16 trails, 488m/1,600ft of vertical, and a challenging skills area and a jump park. while others come for the wildflower show along hiking trails. The ski area is largely below the treeline which affords protection from the elements.
The resort spans over four mountain faces, giving it four distinct areas: Vance Creek, Attridge, Silver Woods, & Putnam Creek.
